Aspiring Leaders Scholarship

 

At Helloworld Business Travel (HWBT) we believe it is imperative that the business travel sector support and develop the next generation of leaders to take our industry forward.

There is enormous talent within our network and we want to play our part in encouraging our aspiring leaders to advance, grow their careers and continue to develop professionally. And so, we are proud to launch The Helloworld Business Travel Aspiring Leaders Scholarship.

The Aspiring Leaders Scholarship will provide one talented HWBT network member with the following opportunities and experiences:

  • Mentoring by a nominated mentor from the senior ranks of the travel industry via the Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) program (10th June 2020 intake)
  • Attendance at the GBTA Convention 2020 (25-29 July 2020 Denver), including accommodation
  • Flights to and from Denver provided by sponsor United Airlines in their United Polaris® business class service
  • Attendance at one FY21 HWBT Business Council Meeting

Who can apply?
The HWBT Scholarship is open to all managers and aspiring managers who are currently working at a HWBT member agency and meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant’s employer supports the application
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the Travel Industry 
  • Australian resident
  • Available to commence the TIME mentor program at the 10th June 2020 intake
  • Must agree to complete the TIME program as outlined by TIME
  • Must complete a TIME EOI as part of the application process
  • Available to travel to Denver for the GBTA Convention 23-30 July
  • Prepared to provide a report on the key learnings/takeaway from the GBTA Convention to be shared with HWBT network peers and potential PR opportunities following the Convention

Timeframes

  • Applications are open from Tuesday 10th March 2020 and must be submitted by 31st March 2020 (applications close date)
  • The TIME Board will assess EOI forms to ensure acceptance into the program prior to awarding the final scholarship winner at the Business Summit in Perth, 14-16 May 2020.
  • The TIME Mentor program will run from 10th June for a 6-month period
  • The GBTA Convention will be held in Denver from 25-29 July 2020

Application Process
Applicants will be required to complete a one page document detailing why they should be awarded the scholarship, along with a TIME EOI form to apply for this scholarship. Applications will be assessed by the HWBT National Sales Manager and the General Manager, Independent & Corporate Networks for Helloworld Travel Limited.

The TIME Board will assess EOI forms to ensure acceptance into the program prior to awarding the final scholarship winner at the Business Summit in Perth, 14-16 May 2020.

The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) is a not-for-profit company established in 2009 to help ambitious, aspiring leaders of the Travel Tourism, Hospitality and Aviation industry accelerate their careers through mentoring.

The program operates within a structured mentoring and peer collaboration framework to deliver agreed outcomes for each participant.
The Mentor’s role is to hold his or her Mentee accountable, to offer challenging ideas, new ways of thinking and to inspire, as well as building Mentee self-confidence through encouragement and constructive feedback. Read more.
